OUR MAJOR LEAGUE QUALITY WOOD
Wood Species
MAPLE
ASH
- Fonza Bat pro quality maple, ash and Birch billets are grown every day at the best mills from Pennsylvania, New York and Southeastern Canada. These places are the best around the world for maple and ash baseball billets. Straight grain and moisture content are the most important qualities when Fonza Bat Company is producing baseball bats.
Birch
Fonza Bat Billets are vacuum drying (vacu bright) to 6% and 8%. Our suppliers have made some studies on moisture content and the results are 6% to 8%, which makes the billets more strong and flexible on a good weight. This process reduces oxidation, delivers whiteness while providing unequaled straight grain and stability. The drying is reduced from 2 months to 5 days. As soon as the wood arrives to our facility it has to go under a rigorous inspection for straight grain, no color defect, and no knots quality control. The billets have to meet all our regulations.

- Recently, Birch has become much more popular among players at all levels of the game. Birch has proven to be a good alternative to Hard Maple and Ash with respect to performance. The supply of Yellow Birch logs suitable for baseball billets is more limited then Ash and Maple. The sap wood or live wood looks very similar to Maple and the heart wood has a brown color.

The right wood bat for you is one that lets you generate maximum bat speed. You accomplish this with a wood bat that’s not too long or too heavy. The best way to find the “right” wood bat is to start with the Sizing Chart below. Try different size bats in that general length range. The bat that feels comfortable and easy to swing should be selected.
BAT CARE TIPS
Bat Care Tips
Because our bats are made from the finest timbers and are subjected to the highest level quality evaluation we want to make sure that you know how to make your FONZA Bat last as long as possible.
1. Never ever throw your bat or any other piece of equipment except the baseball.
2. Practice with soft toss and tee work when you first use your new FONZA Bat. This will help train your eye to ensure proper contact with the ball when facing live pitching.
3. Always position the bat in your hands so the FONZA logo is facing you (up), or that the logo is on the opposite side facing away from you (down).
4. Dont leave your bat in the car on a hot day. Your car can become an oven. High heat can bake the moisture out of your bat causing it to become brittle. Long periods of exposure to heat is not good for any bat.
5. Dont hesitate to contact us with any of your questions. We love hearing from you.
Unfortunately there are no guarantees with wood bats. But the better you can take care of your bat, the longer it will last.
